Building the School

How the school came about and what changes and new things are coming.

The Principle Effect Class

What if we didn’t study by subject and learned through patterns and principles only? How would school be different?

I am starting up my Principle Effect Class. This will be a monthly, four-hour online webinar/class for parents and youth teaching how to place Jesus Christ as the foundation of every subject and teaching.
We will take a principle or characteristic of God each month and study it throughout other subjects.

You will learn how to:
*teach Jesus Christ at the foundation of all learning
*teach Jesus Christ as the beginning and the ending of all learning
*use the stories from the lives of ancient historians and mathematicians
*find patterns and principles in nature and in your personal life
*increase your relationships with your children

There are many curricula and classes teaching you the individual subjects, this class will teach you how all subject are ONE and how to find the principles and patterns within the whole (all subjects).

Telestial Education

Telestial Education is the education is like the Light of the STARS (D&C 76:82)

Purpose:  get a job!,  to get gain!  (see Helaman 7:21)

Method: competition pressure, stress, force, shame, grades and honors, fear, confusion, deception, job training, indoctrinated, little light/truth, entertainment centered.

Teaching Process: The Philosophies of men;  It is the teaching the philosophies of men in pieces

Results/Dangers:   Lack of self-esteem, materialism, greed, fear, “not my responsibility”, lust, power, dishonesty, compartmentalization (blunts the spirit), desensitization, job training.  False pride:  pride in their own accomplishments not in divine light

Responsibility:  The school, the government, others.

Examples:  The pioneers, “But behold, they have not learned to be obedient to the things which I required at their hands, but are full of all manner of evil, and do not impart  of their substance, as becometh saints, to the poor and afflicted among them; And are not united according to the union required by the law of the celestial kingdom;”  D&C 105:3-4

Methodology for 14-18 year olds

14-18 year olds start this program, hopefully, with an understanding of precepts, principles, symbolism and following personal inspiration.  If they do not know and understand this prerequisite it is still possible, they may have to work a little harder.

Each group/class will meet a few times during the week, either at a home or over the internet.  The first meeting each week is about sharing ideas, building energy, networking, coming up with ideas, questions, and problems.  They, as individuals, smaller groups, or together spend the rest of the week working on the problem or question, finding solutions and answers.  Then they meet back together and share.  This can be a demonstration, a lesson, an experience, a field trip, etc. the possibilities are endless.  They are encouraged to write, whether it be their presentation, their progress, journaling or a formal paper.

Each class begins with a pledge, song, prayer and any other devotional type things the group wants to add in.  A short demonstration, symbolism, analogy or lesson may be given to enhance a specific topic.   However, the main focus is on the energy and experiences of each person.

This method allows the student/teacher (everyone is the student and the teacher) to learn how to problem solve, research, present, plan and teach.   All this is accomplished in the atmosphere of trust and love.  They encourage and inspire each other along their journey of transformation while being uplifted in their own journey.  This allows each to follow their own path and to be led by the spirit of inspiration.  The main goal then is to bring them to or closer to knowing their soul purpose or personal mission in this life.

Each student/teacher, will be asked to stay present or to be there for each other in times of triumph and clearing.  The purpose of this education is to help each student/teacher learn to follow the spirit of inspiration, find their soul purpose and learn how to stand in their power.

4th

Happy Independence Day!!  Wow I love the new firework laws.  The aerials were bursting all around us, all night long.  It was so beautiful and at the same time helped me to reflect on the Revolutionary War and the stories of the heroism.

Welcome!

Keystone Education came about the end of June 2011.  I was challenged to publish my outline on the sciences I had already written.  As I pondered on this and its possibilities I watched a class taught be Michelle Stone on Celestial Education.  I learned a lot of great organizational ideas many of her thoughts had been my thoughts too.  Exciting!  Then I listen and watched a YouTube video called “The independent Project.”  As I watched and pondered I thought why not start a school?  That was a big step!  As I thought and pondered I came up with the perfect classroom.  I would start with a small teen class of about 10 people.  We meet 1 to 4 times during the week.  The first just to brainstorm and form ideas and receive and give energy.  From that we each come up with a commitment and a question, the rest of the week is supporting, researching and growing.  At the end of the week we present and teach each other what we had learned.  This group is spiritually fluent and uses the scriptures and words of the prophets to help find their answers.  A review or teaching on symbolism and recognizing the spirit/intuition is given whenever necessary.

So, I’m starting a school!  What would it be called?  I brainstormed for more of a day.  Thought it would be cool to have words that started with ‘K’ to describe the school, but couldn’t come up with any I liked, but ‘L’ words came flowing to me so I made a list.  No name came, so I finally went to bed.  During the middle of the night I had to get up with my baby who was weaning, when he calmed down I sat there in the dark and thought about how being still leads to inspiration and so I said out loud, what is the name of my school?  within seconds the word ‘key’ (authority) came into my mind (funny that wasn’t one of my ‘k’ words).  Then I thought it needs to represent Christ and the word stone (rock of our salvation) came into mind making ‘keystone’ (scriptures are the keystone of religion).  That was it  – Keystone (Christ, his authority and his words)!!

Now that I had a name what’s next?  I needed an online presence.  So, here I am 🙂  As I tried for Keystone Academy it was already taken, so I chose Keystone Education and got started.  As I thought about it, it was providence.  Because I’m not starting a traditional school, I’m introducing a way of using the spirit to better your education, not teach you what I think you ought to know.

I met with two girls that I want in my class.  As I unfolded my idea to them, they got very excited!  Alyssa said that this is something she is very interested in, something that would fit with her thoughts and hopes the last few months.  I asked her to be my student leader.  Amber is very interested, but limited on time so we will work with her.  We meet again on the 14th of July.  My sons, Izaak and Matteo are also on board and will start spreading the word.  Everything is falling into place.
